Method for Assessing the Sustainable Development of an Industrial Enterprise

Abstract
The problems of the impact of human activities on the environment due to the need to provide resources for economic development led in the 1960s-70s to the realization of the need to change the traditional incremental model of economic systems and the transition to a model of sustainable development. In 1992, the UN member states adopted the "Agenda 21", which officially enshrined this idea. To control the implementation of the concept of sustainable development, it is necessary to develop a system of targets by which to assess the degree of achievement of the goals not only at the level of the state, but also at the level of the enterprise-a key link in the economic system. The objectives of the article are the formation of indicators of sustainable development monitoring and development of methods for assessing the sustainable development of industrial enterprises. Evaluation of the effectiveness of achieving the sustainable development goals is carried out by means of methods of assessing sustainable development, which are developed using indicators of sustainable development, grouped in most cases in two directions: a system of indicators of sustainable development and an integral (aggregated) indicator of development. To perform a full monitoring of sustainable development, an attempt is made to ensure the "cross – cutting" nature of sustainable development indicators – the presence of similar indicators at all levels of economic development-from the enterprise to the level of the region and the state. To monitor the assessment of sustainable development of industrial enterprises the authors propose a system of indicators and methods for assessing sustainable development, presented in the form of an integral indicator, taking into account the availability of data for analysis in the public domain. The testing of the author's technique is performed using the mathematical method of calculation of the geometric mean. The main provisions and conclusions of the article may be of interest to the authorities for the development of a national strategy for sustainable development, as well as for enterprises in the process of forming strategic programs for sustainable development, taking into account the environmental and social factors.
