Environmental and Economic Safety as a Factor of Forming Youth Loyalty to the Development of

Abstract
Nowadays the world energy sector is facing several challenges related to the technical and socio-economic aspects of its development that have led to widespread structural change. Amid the modernization and the aggravation of environmental problems, the environmental and economic safety of the territory has an important role to play. In that regard, the most effective way of its development in the immediate future is green energy that meets all requirements of the concept of sustainable development, such as to ensure development in which all environmental constrains and a safe working environment for natural systems be taken into account. Green energy includes nuclear energy and renewable energy; both of them might be the key-factor of the energy sector’s expansion and modernization. The environmental advantages of renewable energy are obvious and its development is supported by society, while the situation with nuclear energy is the opposite. The most serious barrier to its development is the public attitude to it which is negative in many countries, because of the low level of awareness of nuclear energy technologies or the public fear of accidents at nuclear power plants (NPP). The authors analyze the attitude towards nuclear energy among Italian students (University of Trento) and Russian students (Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin) using the results of a survey conducted by the authors in three stages. The correlation between the development of environmental safety of nuclear energy as a factor of the environmental and economic security of the territory, and the public support for it was revealed and confirmed by the study. The results show that the young generation of Russia and Italy is quite loyal to nuclear energy: many understand its prospects for the future development of energy and objectively assess the potential for risks, the level of modern technology and environmental safety of the industry.
