Abstract
Abstract. The article reveals the place of Russia on the eve of the geopolitical inversion at the next stage of world capital globalization. The analysis is based on the theory of the circulation of capital suggested by Giovanni Arrighi. There is considerable evidence that the old world center of capital in the United States should be replaced with a new leader nation. It is shown that a set of attributes enables Russia to claim the role of the new center of capital. This assertion is based on the author's concept of globalization of the world centers of capital, which is manifested in territorial and demographic escalation in each successive center. To substantiate this thesis the author uses estimated data yielded by special territorial and demographic indices of geopolitical inversion in retrospect. The author shows also that the unique developments of our time break the traditional process of geopolitical inversion, due to which Russia is turning into a springboard of political and economic contradictions. In fact, American capital begins a kind of geopolitical battle for Russian economic space, which will allow it to restart the effect of scale that the United States themselves has already largely exhausted. The author made adjustments to the concept of Zygmunt Bauman about the devaluation of the spatial development factor, in particular; he specifies that at the time of geopolitical inversion this pattern is not valid. Such geopolitical clash initiates a war between the inclusive institutions of the West with the extractive institutions of Russia. The article considers the risks of Russia's weakening under pressure from the outside, and proposes the main scenarios of further developments. Alternative global projects and trends are outlined that can mitigate the confrontation between Russia and the West.
